RUG and Seattle Wrestling at Nathan Hale
This year, RUG and Seattle wrestling will be will be working together and holding joint folkstyle and freestyle wrestling season practices at Nathan Hale High School.

RUG Wrestling Club
RUG Wrestling Club is a charter member of USA Wrestling and a member of the Western Washington Kid’s Wrestling League. We offer instruction in folkstyle wrestling with the goal of preparing elementary and middle school youth for competition at higher levels.
Most of the school districts in King County provide instruction and competition for wrestling (and other sports like football) in middle school. The Seattle School District does not. Volunteer programs like RUG Wrestling and Seattle Wrestling in Ballard provide an important opportunity for boys and girls living in Seattle to learn about wrestling before entering high school.
Wrestling is a wonderful sport. Since you compete against opponents of similar age and weight and experience, every member of the club has a chance to win and be a hero. Wrestling is a tough sport requiring every ounce of energy that you have, but there is nothing better in the world than working hard and holding someone down till you hear the slap of the hand for a pin.

Hi, everyone!
I’m going to the league meeting this weekend. The season will be getting into gear before too long and I wanted to touch base.
I’m getting a lot of emails from first-time families, which is great.
I also hope to see all of you back this year. If you wish to be taken off of the RUG email list, please let me know. Search around for that singlet and shoes and get ready for the upcoming season. We may be starting up a little earlier this year — I’m thinking maybe November 1st.

Thanks for a Great Season
Thanks to all the wrestlers and fans for a great RUG wrestling season. There were lots of hard practices, some wins, some losses. Everyone improved and it was a good year.
For those of you who are interested in Freestyle wrestling, Seattle Wrestling has practices starting at the end of February.

RUG practice with SWC on Monday 1/17
We will get together with SWC tonight 1/17 from 5:30 until 7PM.
THe doors may be locked and you may need to enter using the doors on the service driveway along the back of the main gymnasium. I’ll post signs if that is the case.
If some SWC arrive late thats OK. We won’t do any actual live wrestling until after 6 PM.

The WWKWL mid season novice tourney is this weekend at Sedro Woolley HS.WWKWL LEAGUE ONLY. Don’t miss this opportunity to get on the mat in real competition. Weigh ins close promptly at 8 AM so plan your trip accordingly. There are a couple of nice family breakfast spots just down the street from the HS. I will be there at about 7:45 and will be bringing singlets and USA cards. Please print and bring your wrestlers USA card just in case. There is a $15 tournament fee through USA Wrestling. GET ON THE MAT.
